Welcome to PNHS

The Pacific Northwest Herpetological Society (PNHS) is Seattle's premiere club for reptile owners and enthusiasts! We serve the greater Seattle Puget Sound area as well as the larger Pacific Northwest. Our members come from a wide area including Seattle, Yakima, and Portland and include a wide range of experience from veterinarians to hobbyists. PNHS is open to anyone, reptile owner or not, and is dedicated to the education of its members and the public, as well as the conservation, ecology, and captive care and breeding of reptiles and amphibians. The Society also takes an active role in legislative and environmental issues affecting these animals and their habitats.

PNHS hosts a variety of events during the year, provides educational outreaches, and hosts an informative monthly meeting often with a guest speaker addressing issues and concerns relevant to today's reptile owner. PNHS is also a dedicated reptile rescue and adoption group with a tremendous success rate for recuperating sick animals and finding great homes for them. Partnerships with other rescue groups in the area include King County Animal Rescue, Seattle Animal Control, Seattle Turtle and Tortoise Club, and many other small rescue groups.

PNHS meets once a month and our meetings are open to everyone. Feel free to join us and find out more about our organization.

Large Constrictor Ban!

Over the past couple years federal legislation has been working it's way through the system that would identify several species of Python as "Injurious Wildlife" and them to the Injurious Wildlife List of the Lacey Act. This should be a science and policy driven debate. As it stands now the science is being “cherry picked” to support political expediency. The new list would include species like the Burmese Python but does not include species like the Reticulated Python (Retics).
